Position: Mentor to Quantitative Researcher

The Position

We are seeking mentors for our Quantitative Researchers who have a strong understanding of investing and financial markets and a passion for how finance can be deployed to improve social and environmental conditions. The position is fully remote and would involve one hour per week. Compensation is $325/hour.

Key Responsibilities

· Review the work of a Quantitative Researcher, discussing their approach and strategy.

· Suggest, design, and, occasionally, execute analytical methods based on data availability and research objectives

· Share knowledge on how to use quantitative risk models and optimization programs

· Share knowledge on how to communicate and visually display data focused findings

· Share knowledge on how to develop and implement process improvements in data and research workflows

Desired Candidate Qualities

· Experience analyzing how non-financial elements affect financial performance over time, or deep interest and a strong sense of how to pursue this analysis

· Experience conducting or leading financial materiality or dual materiality assessments to drive investment research

· Excellent analytical skills and computer competencies, including strong quantitative skills and comfort with large datasets and qualitative data

· Experience with statistical software or programming

· Knowledge of securities markets, products, investor behavior, and familiarity with multi-factor risk models and scenario analysis

· Ability to synthesize reports and data and produce high quality outputs

· Joy of teaching and explaining and enabling growth

· Comfortable working in a consensus-driven environment and engaging respectfully with differing world views

· Problem solver who views uncertainty as an opportunity to identify new solutions

Preferred Background

The ideal candidate will possess a master’s or PhD in financial analysis or statistical modeling in some form and has worked in their field for a number of years, applying their skills to creative problem solving. We expect that familiarity with factor analysis, event-history analysis, sentiment analysis, and analysis methods related to assessing volatility measures (e.g. crash risk) will be particularly helpful.
